Winter Weather Reminder

Looking at the long term forecast, here is a reminder for all students, parents and staff!

As we move into colder weather, please ensure your child is dressed appropriately—with a hat, gloves, and a warm winter coat. If your child needs winter clothing, please contact the school office. We’ll gladly help locate what’s needed to keep every student warm.

When inclement weather arrives, there may be late starts or full snow days. Although we strive to have students and staff in school every day, safety and well-being always come first. The decision to delay or cancel school is never made lightly. Multiple weather sources are reviewed, and we meet as an administrative team, consult with neighboring districts, local transportation staff, and road maintenance crews. An administrator even drives the routes and local highways to assess conditions firsthand.

If you are signed up for ParentSquare and have provided a current phone number, you’ll receive an automated call once a decision is made. Notices are also posted on our social media pages and shared with local media outlets. If you do not receive a call, please contact your school’s main office to ensure your information is up to date.

Because our district covers a varied and unique geographic area, weather and road conditions can vary widely. Families ultimately decide whether it is safe to send their children to school on questionable days. If you choose to keep your student home please contact the office. If your child rides the bus, please notify your route driver or the transportation department that they will not be riding that day.

There may be times when school is in session as conditions are safe for most, but not all, families. If you ever feel it’s in your child’s best interest to stay home due to weather, please do so. Teachers and administrators will work with students to ensure they make up any missed work.

I understand that late starts and snow days can disrupt your schedule, and I truly appreciate your patience and flexibility when these changes occur. Please know that every decision is made with one guiding priority—the safety and well-being of our students and staff.
