Last week the speech team traveled to Potter Dix for the MAC conference meet. Three out of the four students that competed placed. RyAnne Blau placed first in two of the categories she competed in. Humorous and entertainment. Sarah Reish placed second in her persuasive speech, and Nicole Barker placed fifth in her  informative speech. Kristin Clause unfortunately didn’t place but did her best in her humorous speech. Clause said, “My Humorous was about a girl that gets dumped over a text message and she describes how she has dealt with her other boyfriends that have dumped her in person and over a phone call.” She went out for speech because it is something she enjoys and she gets to meet a lot of new, cool, people. Clause transferred from Minatare this last year and brought her love for speech with her to Bayard. “My freshman year my English teacher from Minatare persuaded me to do it,” Clause said. She is happy she has the opportunity to do speech with the team she has. Good luck to the speech team at their next meet on March 3rd in Gering.
