Araujo is runner-up at Morrill County Spelling Bee
The Morrill County Spelling Bee was held on Friday, February 23rd in Bridgeport. Bayard was well represented, and 6 kids from each grade level 1st-8th competed in the contest. In the final rounds of the first grade level, second place went to Viviana Prather, and third place went to Bailey Sinks. In the second grade level, Henry Dueker received third place. At the third grade level, Josh Miller received third place. Jessica Kappen got third place and Josh Henkel got fourth grade in the fifth grade level. Zach Araujo received first place as a sixth grader. In the Junior High seventh grade level Kierra Miller got second place and Cambree Schmaltz got third place and eighth grade level, Laura Albro received third place. In the finals round, Araujo placed second. Araujo stated, “The most nerve-wrecking thing to overcome during the Spelling Bee would be spelling the word ‘Macaroni’ and standing in front of a lot of people, but my goal was to win.”
