Elementary Concert Schedule

Dear Elementary School Families,
It is so wonderful to be back in school! The changes that the COVID-19 virus has created also extend to the music program at Bayard Public Schools. The recommendations from the NSAA, CDC, and other organizations that apply to the performing arts in our school are for the health and safety of our students and staff. We will do our best to provide meaningful and joyful musical experiences for our students. We believe that music education is vital for the development of children and young people. In order to provide music and performance opportunities to our students, the following adjustments in the elementary music program will be made this year:

When singing, face masks must be worn. We know that this can be challenging and so we will also focus on many other aspects of music during class time.

Music class may be held in a variety of locations and settings depending on the current risk level.

We will be creating and using instruments, sanitation through washing hands and hand sanitizer is essential in class.

We feel that it is important for students to be able to showcase their talent and learning. In the past, we have done large concerts but will not be able to do so this school year. Between the crowded auditorium and the full backstage area, we cannot maintain or guarantee social distancing or the health and safety of our families and staff. To provide our students with the opportunity to perform, we have created grade level concerts that will take place throughout the school year. Please put these dates on your calendars:

Tuesday, November 10, 4th grade

Monday, March 8, 3rd grade

Tuesday, April 13, 5th and 6th grade (band & musical)

Thursday, May 6, Kindergarten

ALL CONCERTS WILL BE AT 6:00 PM. These concerts will be short and involve multiple elements of our music curriculum. Changing the format of our music concerts this school year will be exciting but different. By limiting the number of students involved and thus decreasing the audience size, we feel we can safely showcase the musical talents of our students.
