COVID-19 Information - Recent Update

Bayard Public Schools Patrons:

Here is a brief update with some developments on the COVID-19 situation in Nebraska.

Please see the article at the link below for some information about the thresholds for how the state plans to handle ordering school closures if that would become necessary.

Timing of any closures is important for this public health strategy to actually work.

Please see a recent letter from the Commissioner of Education regarding closure decisions and some things for schools to consider at the link below:

We have been in contact with the COVID-19 Unified Command Staff. We appreciate their leadership and diligence in working with school officials here in Morrill County. Our school is currently on Spring Break (Thursday and Friday). At this point we will continue to be in communication with health officials regarding the situation and will work with them to respond in a coordinated manner if anything would necessitate changes to our scheduled return to session on Monday. Over the past few weeks district staff have reviewed the Morrill County Local Emergency Operations Plan (LEOP) and school policies in anticipation of continued spread of the virus. At our March meeting, the Bayard Public Schools Board of Education reviewed policies and approved emergency operation procedures for our school district.  As a result I anticipate our organization is prepared to respond in the event of possibly needing to make changes from our regular educational operations.
