Bayard Public Schools and John Baylor Offer ACT Assistance to HS Students

The ACT February test is right around the corner and it is exciting that between 50 and 60 Bayard students have signed up to take the District sponsored test. Not only has the school sponsored each student, but there is a renewed spirit provided by John Baylor and Bayard Public Schools to support student efforts in this regard. A permanent score wall honoring current and alumni scores is also under construction.
Because of the importance of performing well on the ACT, the Bayard School Board passed an initiative with renewed emphasis and utilization of the John Baylor test prep program. Mr. Baylor was here on December 16, 2019 to talk to staff and hold a morning assembly about how to improve test scores. Then Mr. Baylor taught a couple of lessons to the junior class.
It is important to emphasize that the district knows that each student is more than a score, Assessment Director Mr. McLaughlin said. “But we want to help them earn a score that can set them up for a lifetime of success.”
Every teacher in the subjects of reading, science, and math will be working with students and the John Baylor program.
