Mrs. Salazar's 5th Grade
November 03, 2008
Hello from Mrs. Salazar’s Fifth Grade Class
During this week we will be beginning multiplication in Math. We will start out with one-digit multiplication and move on to multiplying with zeros and two-digit numbers.
In Reading we will be reading an excerpt from the book, Inside Out and looking at what makes people want to do the right thing. This week we will focus on why people show kindness to others.
In Language we are continuing to work on parts of speech, focusing on nouns, pronouns, proper nouns, and possessive nouns.
In Social Studies we will begin to study the five regions of the United States.
We are very excited to have our Halloween party on Friday, which a group of parents have volunteered to organize. Thank you, parents! We appreciate your help!
We were very fortunate to attend the production of “Charlie and Chocolate Factory” at the Midwest Theater in Scottsbluff on October 17. This was great closing activity to reading the book and completing projects based on the story.
Some class goals that we have are to improve our basic computation skills, especially our multiplication facts. We are also working very hard at staying on target for our AR Reading goals!
